Lot-code verification

Verify the right lot code on the right product

Match every physical lot mark to the current production record and remove products with missing, incorrect or unreadable identification.

Keep product and lot data aligned
Purpose-built vision inspection

Prevent yesterday's print message entering today's production

Lot-code verification compares what the camera sees with what the line should be printing. It can form part of a wider product-to-label or product-to-order check, preventing a correct-looking but incorrect code from passing.

Lot presence

Confirm that the complete identifier is present within the permitted print region.

Content agreement

Compare the captured lot string with an approved recipe, PLC or production database value.

Product match

Cross-check lot information with the active product, label, barcode or work order.

Failure segregation

Track and remove any pack that cannot be positively matched.

System outcomes

Stronger traceability at the point of print

Automated lot verification helps prevent transcription mistakes, stale printer jobs and unplanned production data from becoming finished-product traceability errors.

01

Control changeovers

Update expected lot content with the product recipe and verify the first and subsequent packs.

02

Reduce ambiguity

Apply a defined pass/fail standard instead of depending on subjective visual judgement.

03

Create evidence

Record inspection events and retain failed-code images where your quality process requires it.

Application engineering

Build the verification around your source of truth

The authorised lot value may come from an HMI, line PLC, manufacturing system, barcode scan or operator entry. We define how that value is received, validated and locked to the correct production recipe.

  • Expected lot data source
  • Permitted code formats and length
  • Recipe access and user permissions
  • Result logging and line response

Frequently asked questions

Lot-code verification questions

Every inspection begins with real samples, representative print and the operating conditions found on your production line.

Is lot-code verification the same as checking code presence?

No. Presence confirms only that a mark exists. Verification compares the visible characters or taught pattern with the known lot value required for the active product.

Can lot codes include both letters and numbers?

Yes. Alphanumeric strings and common separators can be read or verified, subject to adequate resolution, contrast and a representative sample trial.

Can the expected lot be changed by a production system?

Yes. The value can be exchanged through an agreed interface with suitable handshaking, validation and fault handling so the vision recipe remains aligned with production.
